PvE guide for Druid “Balance” in WoW Mists of Pandaria Classic 5.5.0

Balance is a ranged spec with unique Eclipse mechanics and Lunar/Solar energy. She provides the party with various buffs for casters and has great potential for dealing spread AoE damage through periodic effects and Starfall that affects a large area. Balance gear is largely the same as Healing gear, making it easier to switch between specializations. In this guide you will find a detailed guide to the Owl Druid in WoW MoP Classic.

1. Advantages and disadvantages of Owl Druid in 5.5.0
The core rotation of Balance in Mists of Pandaria Classic has been greatly accelerated by Euphoria, which allows you to switch between Eclipses. In terms of targeted damage, Balance is considered one of the weakest specializations.
In AoE battles, Sova dominates due to the periodic effects of Moonfire and Solar Fire, which deal powerful damage to distributed targets, especially in combination with Planet Parade and Starfall.
Benefits:
- Powerful AoE damage from Starfall and Moonfire/Sunfire applied to multiple targets simultaneously;
- General equipment with the Healing specialization, which allows you to change roles without much expense.
- Effective support abilities are Alarm Roar, Typhoon, Rebirth and Innervate.
Disadvantages:
- Weak targeted damage compared to top specializations;
- Fragile, but protective cooldowns can be obtained through Symbiosis;
- Low mobility; dealing damage and achieving Eclipse requires constantly casting non-instant spells.
2. Best Races for Balance Druid in WoW MoP Classic
Trolls are considered the best race for the Horde thanks to Berserk and Animal Killing, the tauren have nothing like that.
In the Alliance, worgen have an advantage over night elves thanks to Lightness of Darkness and Bitterness.
3. Best Jobs for Owl Druid in Mists of Pandaria Classic
- Engineering is considered the best profession for PvE. It gives access to additional reinforcement (Neural Springs) and a bonus to movement speed (Nitro Boosters).
- Tailoring is another profitable profession for PvE. It allows you to make Embroidery from light fabric. This effect is less controllable than Neural Spring, but has an internal cooldown and therefore works quite predictably, allowing you to stack bonuses to attack power at the moments when you need them.
4. PvE builds and talents for Druid “Balance” in WoW 5.5.0
In the Mists of Pandaria expansion, the talent system has been redesigned - the tree has been reduced to the most powerful and influential talents, intended for different game situations.
Build for Owl Druid in Mists of Pandaria Classic
In Mists of Pandaria, new talents are unlocked every 15 levels, starting at level 15. All talents in one row correspond to a specific theme and are approximately equal in strength; the choice depends on the circumstances and mechanics of the battle.
Talents by level
Level 15 Talents
This case contains talents for fast movement.
- Cat speed gives a direct increase in movement speed (+15%), used in the open world, when leveling up and in dungeons.
- Astral Flash teleports the character 20m forward, similar to Flash. It can be used to evade dangerous mechanics, but the ability has a long cooldown (30 sec) and forces the character into Cat Form, which leads to a loss of damage compared to Moonkin Form.
- Swift Charge grants the ability of the same name, used in Moonkin Form. Used for fast movement, has a short cooldown (15 sec.).
Level 30 Talents
Talents in this tier provide additional opportunities for self-healing or neutralizing constant damage.
- Ysera's Gift restores 5% of your maximum health every 5 seconds. If the druid is healthy, the effect triggers on the nearest wounded ally. Not a bad, but not very effective option.
- The update restores the Owl Druid to 30% of his maximum health, can be used once every 2 minutes. Used in emergency cases, has a long cooldown.
- Shield of Cenarius places a shield on an allied target that activates from a direct attack and restores a large amount of health over 6 seconds. Can be used once every 30 seconds when playing alone or to help tanks. Don't forget that you need to receive direct damage to activate the effect.
Level 45 Talents
This tier contains talents designed to control opponents. All of them are situational, they need to be changed depending on the characteristics of the battle.
- Magic Swarm, when using Magic Fire, slows down affected targets by 50%, the slow lasts 15 seconds. The ability works well when playing alone. In the group, as a rule, there are characters with more effective slowing abilities.
- Mass entanglement chains enemies in place for 20 seconds, can be used once every 30 seconds. This is a unique ability available only to Druids. It is considered situational, but is often used in boss fights that summon a large number of dangerous minions. Pairs perfectly with Pillar of Sunlight.
- Typhoon knocks back enemies in front of the caster and slows them down for 6 seconds. Can be used once every 30 seconds. The knockback interrupts enemy spells, but allies should be warned about it in advance, otherwise the group will lose some damage.
Level 60 Talents
This tier contains talents that affect damage (passive effects and additional skills with long cooldowns).
- The Soul of the Forest works passively: targeted spells have an 8% chance of inflicting an effect that gives 100 units. solar or lunar energy during the next Astral union. The talent removes the low damage phases between eclipses from the rotation, but these phases don’t last long anyway thanks to Euphoria.
- Incarnation grants improved Moonkin Form for 30 sec. The appearance increases damage during Eclipses by 25%, can be used once every 3 minutes. Ensuring the eclipse operates during the Incarnation is not that difficult, so the Incarnation is considered the preferred option for the vast majority of situations.
- Force of Nature has three charges, each of which recharges over 20 seconds. Summons an Ancient ally that deals damage and roots enemies in place for 15 seconds. Force of Nature has a short cooldown and allows you to deal additional damage when playing alone, as well as in battles with targets that do not live long enough for Incarnation.
Level 75 Talents
This tier contains talents designed to control opponents.
- Disorienting Roar disorients nearby enemies for 3 seconds, cooldown 30 seconds. It has a short cooldown and has no side effects. Use it to interrupt spells in groups if the targets are close to each other.
- Ursol's Vortex is an extremely interesting talent for Sova, creating a zone on the ground that slows down opponents and pulls them towards the epicenter when they try to leave the zone for the first time. The zone lasts for 10 seconds, the ability has a 60 second cooldown and combines well with Typhoon (Whirlwind prevents enemies from scattering after being knocked back or groups them so that they all fly in one direction).
- Powerful Stun stuns one target for 5 seconds, can be used once every 50 seconds. The ability can be useful in a single game, but when playing in a group it will be better to use the stun abilities available to other classes.
Level 90 Talents
The last tier contains talents that allow the character to perform his role more effectively or temporarily switch to other roles.
- Heart of the Wild increases stamina, agility, and intelligence by 6% and is permanent. The active component increases the effectiveness of actions associated with other roles for 45 seconds. “Balance” gains the ability to temporarily tank in Bear Form and cast powerful healing spells.
- Cenarius' Dream increases healing from Healing Touch by 20% and damage from subsequent Eclipse Touch by 25%. Sleep gives an increase in damage and reduces the load on healers, but in terms of overall effectiveness it is inferior to the two alternative options.
- Natural sensitivity increases damage dealt and healing done by 12%, lasts 30 seconds. While under the effect, healing spells deal damage to nearby enemies for 20% of the healing, and damage spells heal nearby allies for 25% of the damage. The ability has a 90 second cooldown, use it to support your allies in dangerous moments.
5. Best Symbols for Owl Druid in Mists of Pandaria 5.5.0
In the Mists of Pandaria expansion, symbols are divided into two types: large and small. Large glyphs change the mechanics of abilities and directly affect performance, small glyphs are mostly cosmetic or improve non-combat spells.
Large characters
Not all of the listed symbols affect damage, but we recommend using them for convenience.
- Glyph of Alert allows you to use Bestial Charge while in Moonkin Form, provides an indirect damage boost, and makes your utility skill easier to use.
- The Alarm Roar symbol triples the range of the Alarm Roar, simplifies its use, and is recommended for use in battles where the Alarm Roar is required.
- Glyph of Rebirth: Using Rebirth brings the target back to life at full health. Bosses in raids often use AoE effects and create dangerous zones, so recently revived players often die. The symbol prevents repeated deaths and loss of Revival.
- Glyph of Gust reduces the cooldown of Gust by 60 seconds and increases character mobility.
Small characters
Small symbols for "Balance" make it easier to cast some spells. We recommend that you use the following options:
- The symbol of Aquatic Form increases movement speed in Aquatic Form by 50%, making it easier to master world content.
- Glyph of Grace reduces fall damage even when you are not in Cat Form. Reduces the likelihood of death when falling from a great height; it is considered a situational symbol.
- The Stag Glyph allows a Druid in Travel Form to carry allies. Can be useful for quickly moving the entire group.
6. Druid Rotation "Balance" in WoW 5.5.0
Owl Druid Rotation
Make sure all allies are affected by Mark of the Wild and enemies who survive long enough are affected by Arcane Fire. Before the battle begins, summon a Wild Mushroomto where the boss will be standing the moment you reach the first Eclipse. Once this happens, explode the mushrooms to gain bonus damage from Eclipse.
Before the battle begins, use Astral Unity to bring the Eclipse closer, but do not enter the Eclipse, as almost all temporary effects are reset at the beginning of the battle. Try to get at least 50 units. lunar energy so that it is enough for Wrath. If the specifics of the battle prevent you from starting to cast Wrath before directly provoking the target, you may need more energy.
For Balance, the sequence of cooldowns is extremely important (see below).
In single-target combat, use the following ability priority. The same priority is suitable for fights with two or three targets, if you have the ability to apply periodic effects to each of them.
- Cast and maintain Solar Fire and Moon Fire;
- Use Starfall when you reach Lunar Eclipse;
- Use Starsurge on cooldown while in any Eclipse;
- After the Eclipse ends, save up energy for a new one, using Starfire for a Lunar Eclipse or Wrath for a Solar Eclipse.
AoE rotation
For four or more enemies, the rotation looks similar, with the exception of applying damage over time effects to multiple targets at the same time. Shooting Stars must be spent to damage a priority target:
- Cast and maintain Solar Fire and Moon Fire;
- Use Starfall when you reach Lunar Eclipse;
- Cast Starsurge on a priority target;
- Against five or more targets, maintain Hurricane while in any eclipse;
- After the Eclipse ends, save up energy for a new one, using Starfire for a Lunar Eclipse or Wrath for a Solar Eclipse.
7. Cooldowns and other useful abilities of the Balance Druid in WoW Pandaria Classic
The main cooldowns for Balance are Parade of Planets and Incarnation. They should be used as often as possible, if possible combined with temporary enhancements - for example, the effects of accessories, Bloodlust and the Jade Snake Potion.
Incarnation doubles the duration of the Parade of Planets, so it must be activated during the lunarEclipse. Astral Unity must be used immediately after the Eclipse dissipates for maximum damage bonus.
However, the main goal remains to use as many cooldowns as possible, regardless of timers. Otherwise, you will lose more damage than you would with suboptimal use of abilities.
Don't forget to use the following Owl sub skills:
- Typhoon to force enemies to move or mass interrupt enemy spells;
- A pillar of sunlight to apply silence to multiple targets at once;
- Rebirth to resurrect fallen allies;
- Innervate to replenish mana (at resource level 70% or less);
- An alarm roar to quickly move from one point to another if the combat mechanics require it.
Almost all the abilities present in the spell book can be useful to you in one situation or another. Below we will briefly describe each of them.
Rotation Abilities
- Starsurge inflicts heavy Storm damage (both Arcane and Nature spells) on one target. Typically used in Eclipse.
- Starfire is a non-instant spell that deals Arcane damage and restores Solar Energy for Eclipse.
- Wrath is a non-instant spell that deals nature damage and replenishes lunar energy for Eclipse.
- Moonfire fires instantly and deals Arcane damage over time.
- Solar Fire fires instantly and deals nature damage over time.
- Hurricane deals damage to all enemies in the target area. Considered a stream spell, it works once per second. During a lunar eclipse, it turns into an Astral Storm.
- Starfall rains down 20 shooting stars on the heads of enemies over 10 seconds.
- Parade of Planets is the main cooldown for dealing damage. It gives the effects of lunar and solar eclipses simultaneously for 15 seconds, cooldown 3 minutes.
- The Wild Mushroom is placed on the ground ahead of time, then explodes and deals explosive damage. Inferior in strength to its version from the Cataclysm expansion.
- A pillar of sunlight creates a beam above the enemy that interrupts spells and prevents them from being cast for 8 seconds. Cooldown - 1 min.
- Typhoon deals minor damage, knocks enemies back and slows them for 6 seconds. This ability is used when playing solo, PvP, and group PvE.
- Astral unity quickly replenishes the Owl with solar or lunar energy, allowing it to quickly enter the next Eclipse.
Abilities used in cat form
Balance Druids often take Cat Form for the sake of Prowl and Rush.
Abilities used in Bear Form
Bear Form can benefit from additional health and armor, as well as the Ursoc's Might and Furious Regeneration abilities.
Symbiosis
Symbiosis is applied to an allied player and gives new abilities to the ally and the druid himself. Below we list these abilities:
| Class | Skill for purpose | Druid Skill |

- Removing damage removes curses and poisons from the target and has a cooldown of 8 seconds.
- Mark of the Wild is a positive effect applied to the raid and increases the main stats of allies by 5%.
- Bird Form and Swift Bird Form are new skins that allow you to move through the air. Cannot be used in battle.
- Hibernation is a control effect applied to animals and dragons. Lasts 40 seconds. Apply to druids in the forms of animals.

- Calm is a powerful healing cooldown, streaming spell that heals all party members every 2 sec. for 8 sec. Cooldown 8 min.
8. Druid stat priority "Balance" in WoW Mists of Pandaria
The stat priority for a Balance Druid is:
- Intelligence
- Hit Rating, Spirit or Mastery(up to 15%)
- Speedfor a global cooldown of 1 sec. (10296 rating units)
- Critical Strike
- Speedabove the specified limit value
- Mastery
Intelligence
Intelligence is the main stat for all spellcasters. It increases spell power and slightly critical strike chance, which is why it is considered the best damage modifier.
Thanks to raid effects like Blessing of Kings, it has a huge advantage over other stats. The intelligence score naturally increases with the level of items.
Accuracy, spirit and skill
In addition to a high intelligence score, the Owl Druid requires 15% accuracy. In Mists of Pandaria, this stat can be gained through Hit, Mastery, or Spirit (Balance of Power) ratings. Accuracy ensures that a Druid's spells always hit and deal damage, so Accuracy affects DPS more than any other secondary stat.
Speed
Speed is a great stat for Balance, it allows you to gain energy for eclipses faster and increases the number of periodic effects that trigger, thereby increasing their value. Try to achieve a score that reduces the global cooldown to 1 second. - 10296 units. rating or 3101 units. rating for level 85 in the prepatch. Any attribute points above this value are of less benefit, as they do not affect most spells.
Critical Strike
Critical Strike interacts with the Falling Stars passive (200% damage from critical hits instead of 150%). The main disadvantage of a critical strike is the large number of stat points required to gain each additional percentage of chance.
Mastery
Mastery of Balance, Mastery: Total Eclipse, increases the damage bonus from Eclipse. This is the least advantageous of the secondary stats, primarily due to poor scaling.
.
9. Gems, Enchantments and Consumables
In Mists of Pandaria, enchantments, gems, and consumables continue to have a significant impact on your character's performance in combat, especially when mastering challenging content such as Heroic Raids.
Below is a list of improvements that may be useful for Drudis with the Balance specialization.

Consumables

- Spiced Flower Soup (personal meal)
- Mogu Fish Chowder (personal meal)

Infusions and potions
As an infusion, the Balance druid is recommended to use the Infusion of the Gentle Sun.
The best potion is considered to be the Potion of the Jade Snake - try to combine it with cooldowns or use it in phases in which the boss receives increased damage.
Master's Healing Potion can save your life in an emergency, always carry a few with you.
Bandages

11. Leveling up the Owl Druid in WoW MoP 5.5.0
Balance is a great leveling spec that gives you access to instant damage over time effects that also activate Shooting Stars to deal burst damage to a single target with an instant Starsurge.
Thanks to this mechanic, as well as Starfall, Balance can provoke large packs and kill them faster than other magic specializations, and with the right use of Lunar Stream, he does not even have to stop to replenish resources.
Talents for leveling up the druid "Balance"
In Mists of Pandaria, new talents are unlocked every 15 levels, starting at level 15. Below we will give recommendations on choosing talents in each tier so that you can level up your character as quickly and easily as possible.
Level 15 Talents
This case contains talents for fast movement.
- Cat Speed increases movement speed by 15%, allowing you to deal damage without receiving retaliatory attacks.
- Astral Flash teleports the character 20m forward, similar to Flash. It can be used to evade dangerous mechanics, but the ability has a long cooldown (30 sec) and forces the character into Cat Form, which leads to a loss of damage compared to Moonkin Form. Not recommended for use.
- Swift Charge grants the ability of the same name, which can be used while in Moonkin Form. The ability throws the character back a short distance and is used relatively rarely.
Level 30 Talents
This tier contains talents for self-healing and counteracting constant damage. All of them can be useful when leveling up.
- Ysera's Gift restores Owl Druid 5% of his maximum health every 5 seconds. If the druid is healthy, the effect triggers on the nearest wounded ally. A good passive effect for those who want to reduce the number of buttons on the panel.
- The update restores 30% of your maximum health and can be used once every 2 minutes. Used for emergency healing, the amount of health restored is too low for such a long cooldown.
- Shield of Cenarius places a shield on an allied target that activates from a direct attack and restores a large amount of health over 6 seconds. Can be used once every 30 seconds This is a good talent for solo play, it restores large amounts of health when needed. In dungeons, you can use it to heal tanks by pressing an additional button in a timely manner.
Level 45 Talents
This tier contains talents designed to control opponents. All of them are situational, but can slightly increase the pumping speed.
- Magic Swarm, when using Magic Fire, slows down affected targets by 50%, the slow lasts 15 seconds. The talent can be used when playing alone, but alternative options are usually more useful since they hit multiple targets at the same time.
- Mass entanglement chains enemies in place for 20 seconds, can be used once every 30 seconds. The druid's unique talent when leveling up is usually used for retreat.
When leveling up, the talent is usually useless, since Astral Unity can be used outside of combat, and the battles themselves do not last long enough to trigger several eclipses in a row.
- Incarnation grants improved Moonkin Form for 30 sec. The appearance increases damage during Eclipses by 25%, can be used once every 3 minutes. This is a strong talent, but when leveled up, fights don't last long enough and most of the boost is wasted.
- Force of Nature has three charges, each of which recharges over 20 seconds. Summons an Ancient ally that deals damage and roots enemies in place for 15 seconds. The talent is easy to use, deals significant damage and has a short cooldown, and therefore is often used when leveling up.
Level 75 Talents
This tier contains talents designed to control opponents.
- Disorienting Roar disorients nearby Owl enemies for 3 seconds, cooldown 30 seconds. The talent can be used to massively interrupt spells in dungeons. In single-player games, the Druid almost never gets close enough to enemies to trigger Disorienting Roar.
- Ursol's Vortex is an extremely interesting talent that creates a zone on the ground that slows down opponents and pulls them towards the epicenter when they try to leave the zone for the first time. The effect lasts for 10 seconds. and cools down for 60 seconds. It allows you to provoke large groups of enemies and keep them at a distance, and therefore is considered the best choice of the shooting range.
- Powerful Stun stuns one target for 5 seconds, can be used once every 50 seconds. The ability can be useful in a single game, but when playing in a group it will be better to use the stun abilities available to other classes.
Symbols
In the Mists of Pandaria expansion, symbols do not play a significant role; they only slightly speed up leveling. Below we list some useful options.
Large characters:
Not all of the listed symbols affect damage, but we recommend using them for convenience.
- The symbol of the prowling beast removes the penalty to movement speed in the prowling beast and significantly speeds up movement in the open world.
- Symbol of Omens - auxiliary spells help accumulate lunar/solar energy for Eclipses.
- Glyph of Gust reduces the cooldown of Gust by 60 seconds and increases character mobility.
- Glyph of Rebirth, when used by Rebirth, returns the target to life at full health, making it easier for them to continue surviving.
Small characters:
Small symbols for "Balance" make it easier to cast some spells. We recommend that you use the following options:
- The symbol of Aquatic Form increases movement speed in Aquatic Form by 50%, making it easier to master world content.
- Glyph of Grace reduces fall damage even when you are not in Cat Form. Reduces the likelihood of death when falling from a great height; it is considered a situational symbol.
- The Stag Glyph allows a Druid in Travel Form to carry allies. Can be useful for quickly moving the entire group.
- The star symbol replaces the Moonkin Form with a star form, making the character's appearance and transmogrification visible.
Rotation for leveling
The Balance rotation for leveling consists mostly of instant spells and allows you to provoke groups of opponents. Next, the druid uses control abilities to maintain distance and waits for the periodic effects to do their job. Non-instant spells are used against elite targets with large health reserves.
Use Astral Link before the fight begins to enter Eclipse and replenish mana if needed. Remember to maintain your Wilderness Mark.
- Cast and maintain Solar Fire and Moon Fire. Keep your opponents at bay with Ursol's Vortex, Typhoon, Force of Nature, and Wild Mushroom;
- After collecting the pack, use Starfall, if possible during a Lunar Eclipse;
- Cast Starsurge on a priority target;
- Against five or more targets, maintain Hurricane while in any eclipse;
- After the Eclipse ends, save up energy for a new one, using Starfire for a Lunar Eclipse or Wrath for a Solar Eclipse.
