PvE guide for the Guardian Druid in WoW Mists of Pandaria Classic 5.5.0

“Guardian” is a new tank specialization for the druid; it was previously “built into” the “Power of the Beast” specialization. Representatives of the Guardian specialization are better at tanking, but lose the ability to quickly change roles. However, the Feral gear set also fits the Guardian, allowing players to switch between specializations without much difficulty. In this guide you will find a detailed guide to Druid Tank in WoW MoP Classic.

1. Advantages and disadvantages of Bear Druid in 5.5.0
"Guardian" is a relatively simple tank specialization. She's not very strong at the start of the expansion, but she's still viable.
Druids excel at leveling up and when exploring the open world, including alone.
Benefits:
- Effective support abilities: Roar of Alarm, Revival and Innervate.
- Simple rotation, clear defensive abilities, suitable for beginners;
- It scales well from equipment, and at high levels of equipment it is ahead of other tank specializations.
Disadvantages:
- Due to the split, Feral and Guardian specializations are no longer able to deal heavy damage while inactive as a tank;
- Demanding about equipment, to play effectively you need to collect high-level items.
2. Best races for Guardian Druid in WoW MoP Classic
The best Horde race is the Tauren, as they have access to Tempering. Trolls are more suitable for fighting specialization (Berserk and Animal Killing).
In the Alliance, worgen have an advantage over night elves thanks to Lightness of Darkness and Bitterness.
3. Best Jobs for Tank Druid in Mists of Pandaria Classic
- Engineering is considered the best profession for PvE. It gives access to additional reinforcement (Neural Springs) and a bonus to movement speed (Nitro Boosters).
- Blacksmithing gives you access to two additional slots for stones (gloves and bracers), and allows you to gain secondary characteristics instead of primary ones, unlike other professions.
4. PvE builds and talents for Druid "Guardian" in WoW 5.5.0
In the Mists of Pandaria expansion, the talent system has been redesigned - the tree has been reduced to the most powerful and influential talents, intended for different game situations.
Build for Bear Druid (Tank) in Mists of Pandaria Classic
In Mists of Pandaria, new talents are unlocked every 15 levels, starting at level 15. All talents in one row correspond to a specific theme and are approximately equal in strength; the choice depends on the circumstances and mechanics of the battle.
Talents by level
Level 15 Talents
This case contains talents for fast movement.
- Cat speed gives a direct increase in movement speed (+15%), used in the open world, when leveling up and in dungeons.
- Astral Surge teleports the character 20m forward, similar to Flash, causing Cat Form to automatically trigger, which can be dangerous if you are the boss's main target.
- Swift Charge grants the ability of the same name, used in Bear Form. Used to move quickly, also immobilizes the target for 4 seconds. Ideal for a raid.
Level 30 Talents
Talents in this tier provide additional opportunities for self-healing or neutralizing constant damage.
- Ysera's Gift restores 5% of your maximum health every 5 seconds. If the druid is healthy, the effect triggers on the nearest wounded ally. A good passive talent, especially for the Guardian, which has a large supply of health.
- The update restores 30% of your maximum health and can be used once every 2 minutes. Considered to be an additional defensive cooldown, but the amount of health restored is too low for such a long cooldown.
- Shield of Cenarius places a shield on an allied target that activates from a direct attack and restores a large amount of health over 6 seconds. Can be used once every 30 seconds. A good talent if you don’t forget to use it in a timely manner.
Level 45 Talents
This tier contains talents designed to control opponents. All of them are situational, they need to be changed depending on the characteristics of the battle.
- Magic Swarm, when using Magic Fire, slows down affected targets by 50%, the slow lasts 15 seconds. This talent can be useful when playing alone, but in such cases Infected Wounds are more suitable for slowing down.
- Mass entanglement chains Tank Druid's enemies in place for 20 seconds, can be used once every 30 seconds. This is a unique ability available only to Druids. It is considered situational, but is often used in boss fights that summon a large number of dangerous minions.
- Typhoon knocks back enemies in front of the caster and slows them down for 6 seconds. Can be used once every 30 seconds. The knockback interrupts enemy spells, but allies should be warned about it in advance, otherwise the group will lose some damage.
Level 60 Talents
Talents in this tier increase damage and defensive abilities at the expense of additional rage.
- Soul of the Forest is a powerful passive talent that increases the amount of rage generated by Mangle by 30%. Also increases Maim damage by 15%. Mangle is often used in rotation due to the numerous effects that increase its availability, so Soul of the Forest restores a lot of Rage throughout the fight and is considered a strong defensive talent.
- Incarnation reduces the cooldowns of your Melee Damage and Roar abilities by 1.5 seconds, increasing your damage output and speeding up the Rage generation process. The effect lasts for 30 seconds. and recovers for 3 minutes. Use it in fights where enemies deal unpredictable damage, or in fights with large periods of inactivity for tanks.
- Force of Nature has three charges, each of which recharges over 20 seconds. Summons an ancient ally that deals low damage and provokes enemies. Use to deal extra damage and distract enemies.
Level 75 Talents
This tier contains talents designed to control opponents.
- Disorienting Roar disorients nearby enemies for 3 seconds, cooldown 30 seconds. It has a short cooldown and has no side effects. Use it to interrupt spells in groups if the targets are close to each other.
- Ursol's Vortex is an extremely interesting talent that creates a zone on the ground that slows down opponents and pulls them towards the epicenter when they try to leave the zone for the first time. The zone lasts for 10 seconds, the ability has a 60 second cooldown and combines well with Typhoon (Whirlwind prevents enemies from scattering after being knocked back or groups them so that they all fly in one direction).
- Powerful Stun stuns one target for 5 seconds, can be used once every 50 seconds. The ability can be useful in a single game, but when playing in a group it will be better to use the stun abilities available to other classes.
Level 90 Talents
The last tier contains talents that allow the Bear Druid to fulfill his role more effectively or temporarily switch to other roles.
- Heart of the Wild increases stamina, agility, and intelligence by 6% and is permanent. The active component increases the effectiveness of actions associated with other roles for 45 seconds. When the boss is being held by another tank, the Guardian will usually take Cat Form and deal damage, but you can assist healers if needed.
- Cenarius's Dream increases healing from Healing Touch by 20%, increases the critical chance of Mangle by 10%, and on a critical hit has a 50% chance of allowing you to cast your next Healing Touch or Rebirth instantly, without costing resources, and in any form. This causes spells to benefit from attack power instead of spell power. With Cenarius' Dream, you can revive allies at full health (requires Glyph of Rebirth) while in tank form and instantly heal allies with Healing Touch.
- Natural sensitivity increases damage dealt and healing done by 12%, lasts 30 seconds. While under the effect, healing spells deal damage to nearby enemies for 20% of the healing, and damage spells heal nearby allies for 25% of the damage. The ability has a 90 second cooldown, use it to support your allies in dangerous moments.
5. Best Symbols for Tank Druid in Mists of Pandaria 5.5.0
In the Mists of Pandaria expansion, symbols are divided into two types: large and small. Large glyphs change the mechanics of abilities and directly affect performance, small glyphs are mostly cosmetic or improve non-combat spells.
Large characters
Not all of the listed symbols affect damage, but we recommend using them for convenience.
- Glyph of Maul - Maul hits an additional target and deals 50% damage. The symbol is considered situational, but it alone directly affects damage.
- The Alarm Roar symbol triples the range of the Alarm Roar, simplifies its use, and is recommended for use in battles where the Alarm Roar is required.
- Glyph of Rebirth: Using Rebirth brings the target back to life at full health. Bosses in raids often use AoE effects and create dangerous zones, so recently revived players often die. The symbol prevents repeated deaths and loss of Revival.
- Glyph of Gust reduces the cooldown of Gust by 60 sec, making the character more mobile outside of tank form (Gust automatically applies Cat Form).
Small characters
Small symbols for the Guardian make it easier to cast some spells. We recommend that you use the following options:
- The symbol of Aquatic Form increases movement speed in Aquatic Form by 50%, making it easier to master world content.
- Glyph of Grace reduces fall damage even when you are not in Cat Form. Reduces the likelihood of death when falling from a great height; it is considered a situational symbol.
- The Stag Glyph allows a Druid in Travel Form to carry allies. Can be useful for quickly moving the entire group.
6. Rotation of the Guardian Druid in WoW 5.5.0
Single Target Druid Tank Rotation
Make sure you and your allies are affected by Mark of the Wild, and enemies are affected by Arcane Fire.
- Use Enrage when available to generate rage;
- Use Maim to generate even more rage;
- Activate Berserk, if possible, if there are additional targets to which the damage can be spread;
- Spend Fury on Ferocious Defense or Furious Restoration if you're losing more health than your healer can restore;
- Spend extra Rage on Maul when Tooth and Claw is triggered;
- Use Tear to accumulate three charges of the effect of the same name;
- Use Thrash.
AoE rotation
AoE rotation is not much different from rotation for single-target combat, with the exception of targeted attacks.
- Use Thrash;
- Use Maim to generate even more rage;
- Activate Berserk;
- Spend Fury on Ferocious Defense or Furious Restoration if you're losing more health than your healer can restore;
- Spend extra Rage on Maul when Tooth and Claw is triggered;
- Use Swipe.
7. Cooldowns and other useful abilities of the Guardian Druid in WoW Pandaria Classic
Defensive cooldowns (Barkskin, Ursoc's Might, and Survival Instincts) are used to counteract heavy damage. Barkskin recovers very quickly and is most often used in combination with other cooldowns.
Berserk is usually used at the beginning of a fight to quickly gain threat, deal effective AoE damage, or while under the effect of Vengeance.
Remember to use the following sub-skills:
- Rebirth to resurrect fallen allies;
- Innervate to help allies replenish mana;
- An alarm roar to quickly move from one point to another if the combat mechanics require it;
- A frontal attack to interrupt dangerous enemy spells if allies cannot do so.
Almost all the abilities present in the spell book can be useful to you in one situation or another. Below we will briefly describe each of them.
Druid Resources in Mists of Pandaria Classic
In Bear Form, the druid uses rage instead of mana or energy. Rage is generated by basic attacks and when receiving damage, it can be spent on using abilities.
- Bear Form turns your character into a bear with high armor and a large amount of health. This skin is considered defensive and is usually used by tanks.
- The roar provokes the target. This is an important ability for a tank, use it to protect your allies.
- Maim consumes rage and has a short cooldown. Applies an effect to the target that increases bleeding damage by 30%. Apply as needed.
- Tear causes a bleeding effect on the target, stacking up to three times.
- Mauling consumes rage and deals damage. Rage is usually used for defense - use Maul if your life is not in danger.
- The swing deals damage to all Mishka Druid enemies standing in front of the Druid. Damage to targets with bleeding is increased by 20%.
- Thrash applies a bleed effect to affected targets that lasts for 16 seconds. Also reduces physical damage dealt to targets by 10% for 30 sec. Has a 25% chance to reset the Mangle cooldown.
- Survival Instincts - protective cooldown, reduces damage taken by 50%. Duration of action - 12 seconds.
- A frontal attack allows you to dash towards the target and blocks the use of spells for 4 seconds. The target spends 25% more mana for 10 sec.
- Bear Hug stuns the target for 3 seconds, deals damage equal to 10% of the druid's maximum health once every second, and immobilizes the druid himself. If the target is immune to stun, instead of the listed effects, the damage it deals is reduced by 10%. Lasts 5 seconds.
- Natural swiftness allows you to cast your next spell instantly. Can be used in Bear Form. When cast with Celerity, the spell restores 50% additional health or lasts 50% longer.
- Furious Regeneration is a cooldown that turns Fury into Health.
- Enrage restores 20 units. rage instantly and another 10 units. within 10 sec..
Abilities used while in Cat Form
While in Cat Form, the tank druid can use two types of resources: combo points and energy. Energy is automatically replenished over time and spent on abilities that generate combo points (for example, Maim).
Combo points accumulate up to 5 and are spent on particularly strong abilities (for example, Rip).
Energy-consuming abilities
The following abilities consume energy and generate combo points:
- Maim is used to accumulate combo points, and also reduces the target's movement speed by 50% due to Infected Wounds.
- Gap is similar to Mangle, but instead of dealing direct damage, it deals damage over time.
- Swings in a cone in front of the caster, causing damage to all nearby enemies. Damage is increased by 20% if the enemy is affected by the Bleeding effect.
- Pounce can only be used in stealth and from behind. The ability deals heavy damage and generates a combo point. The ability is usually used at the beginning of combat, as it gains 50% critical chance if the target's health level exceeds 80%.
- The pounce is used from stealth and stuns the target, but does not cause direct damage, but periodic damage. It is used at the beginning of the battle, as it has positional restrictions.
Abilities that consume combo points
The following Druid Tank abilities consume combo points and deal powerful damage:
- Rip is a powerful bleed that absorbs combo points. Serves as the main source of damage. Use it against targets that live long enough.
- Wild Roar is a buff that increases the physical damage the druid deals by 80%. The duration of the effect depends on the number of points spent. Maintain Wild Roar for as long as possible while rotating at the same time.
- Ferocious Bite is similar to Rip, but deals damage instantly. In terms of absolute damage values, Ferocious Bite is inferior to Rip, especially in battles with targets with a large amount of armor.
Auxiliary abilities
Some support abilities can only be used while in Cat Form.
- Berserk reduces the cost of abilities used while in Cat Form by 50%. Lasts 15 seconds, considered the main cooldown for dealing damage.
- Magic fire reduces the target's armor and prevents it from being hidden. Deals low damage and has a 25% chance to reset the Mangle cooldown when cast in Bear Form.
- Prowl allows the character to become invisible. significantly reduces the druid's detection radius by enemies and gives access to some important abilities. Prowl is only used outside of combat; stealth is removed if you are attacked by an enemy or use an ability.
- Tiger's Fury significantly speeds up the energy replenishment process and increases damage done for 6 seconds.
- Gust increases movement speed by 70%, eliminates immobilization and slowdown. Duration - 15 seconds, cooldown 3 minutes. Use to move quickly.
- Feline Grace passively reduces fall damage.
- Swift Dash allows you to jump behind a target and inflict dizziness on them for 3 seconds.
- Leader of the Pack is the last talent of the “Power of the Beast” branch. Passively spreads to all party members, increasing the chance of critical hits by 5%.

Common Druid Spells
The following spells are available to druids of all specializations. The spells are listed in order of importance, but they can all be useful in one situation or another.
All of the following abilities remove Druids from their forms. Don't use them if you're actively tanking someone in Bear Form!
- Revival resurrects a fallen ally in battle.
- Alarm Roar allows the Druid and his allies to move faster for several seconds.
- Barkskin is a defensive cooldown that reduces all damage taken by 20%. Duration - 12 seconds, recovery time - 1 minute. Can be used while under control.

- Removing damage removes curses and poisons from the target and has a cooldown of 8 seconds.
- Mark of the Wild is a positive effect applied to the raid and increases the main stats of allies by 5%.

- Calm removes all enrage effects from the target.
- Humanoid Tracking displays nearby humanoids, including players, on the minimap.
- Rejuvenation is a healing over time effect that can be applied to yourself or allies.
- Healing Touch is a slow-moving spell that restores a lot of health.
- Calm is a powerful healing cooldown, streaming spell that heals all party members every 2 sec. for 8 sec. Cooldown 8 min.
8. Priority of characteristics of the Druid "Guardian" in WoW Mists of Pandaria
The priority stats for a Druid with the Guardian specialization are:
- Endurance
- Accuracy(up to a limit of 7.5%)
- Mastery(up to a limit of 15%)
- Critical Strike
- Dexterity
- Speed
- Mastery
- Evasion
Endurance
Endurance is the main characteristic for a tank. It increases maximum health and gives healers more time to react to damage. The gear stats in Mists of Pandaria are such that you'll never have to choose between endurance and agility.
Stamina also increases the damage dealt through Vengeance (1.8% of the "pure" damage taken in Bear Form is converted into attack power; the effect lasts 20 seconds and converts no more than 10% of the maximum health).
Accuracy and skill
Accuracy and skill are responsible for hitting the target with automatic and special attacks. If he misses, the character loses resources and precious time spent on the ability, the amount of rage generated and the frequency of using defensive skills are reduced.
7.5% Accuracy reduces the miss chance, 7.5% Mastery reduces the chance to dodge, 15% Mastery reduces the chance to parry for raid bosses.
Critical Strike
While in Bear Form, critical strikes are 50% more effective. Primal Fury restores 15 points. rage on a critical hit, which is why critical strike is considered the best stat after accuracy and mastery.
Agility
Agility is the primary stat that is responsible for damage and evasion. The gear stats in Mists of Pandaria are such that you'll never have to choose between endurance and agility.
However, for every point of agility, a character can gain two points of a secondary stat, which significantly reduces the value of agility.
Speed rating
Speed increases the frequency of attacks, creating additional opportunities to generate rage, deal damage, and trigger Tooth and Claw. In general, the characteristic is considered beneficial for the Druid Tank, but the bonus to the rate of rage generation from it is not very large.
Mastery
Guardian Mastery, Mastery: Guardian of Nature, increases armor. Armor reduces physical damage taken, but does not affect magical damage, and therefore from a defensive point of view, mastery is inferior to other characteristics.
Evasion
When dodging, the character completely ignores damage from the attack. Evasion is a purely defensive stat, not very beneficial when recruited in large quantities.
.
9. Gems, Enchantments and Consumables
In Mists of Pandaria, enchantments, gems, and consumables continue to have a significant impact on your character's performance in combat, especially when mastering challenging content such as Heroic Raids.
Below is a list of upgrades that may be useful for Druids with the Guardian specialization.
Enchantment
| Slot | Basic option | Additional option |
| Shoulders | Arcane Inscription of the Tiger's Claw (Inscription required) Great Mark of the Tiger's Claw | - |
| Cloak | Sword Handle Embroidery (Requires Tailoring) Enchant Cloak - Defense IV | - |

| Pants | Initial Leggings Enhancement (Requires Leatherworking) Shadow Leather Overlays | - |

Stones for Bear Druid
Typically, tanks use stones to fill up the missing accuracy and skill points, since they have to worry about the probability of a parry, and not just a miss or a dodge. Free slots must be filled with critical hit stones, since in Bear Form the effectiveness of a critical hit increases by 50%.
| Stones | |
| The ringing primordial diamond | |
| Treacherous Sunset Onyx / Smooth Sunlight | |
| Perfectly Cut Imperial Amethyst / Burning Native Jade | |
| Clear Pristine Ruby | |
| Clear Snake Eye - Requires Jewelcrafting, can use a maximum of three pieces. |
Consumables
Food
The best food at the start of the expansion is considered to be Pandaren Feast (10 players) / Big Pandaren Feast (25 players). If you want to benefit your raid the most, use 450 Personal Food. endurance.
- Stuffed soft mushrooms (personal meal)
- Tian Monastery Spring Rolls (personal meal)
- Pandaren Feast (feast for 10 players)
- Great Pandaren Feast (feast for 25 players)
Infusions and potions
Typically, Guardians are advised to use a combination of elixirs (Mantis Elixir + Mad Hozen Elixir), but if you are mastering a particularly difficult boss and want to save some gold, use Earth Flask.
The best potion is Wildebeest's Bite - combine it with cooldowns to deal damage or use it in phases in which the boss takes increased damage.
Master's Healing Potion can save your life in an emergency, always carry a few with you.
Bandages
Thick windwool bandages are rarely used in combat, as the effect is lost when taking damage, but in the absence of other healing methods they can come in handy.

11. Leveling up the Druid Tank in WoW MoP 5.5.0
"Guardian" is one of the best specializations for leveling up. By choosing it, the character becomes practically immortal, can collect huge packs and destroy them with a relatively simple rotation, the effectiveness of which increases with the number of targets. In addition, tanks are readily accepted into any group, which means you can level up faster than fighters and even healers!
Talents for leveling up the Druid "Guardian"
In Mists of Pandaria, new talents are unlocked every 15 levels, starting at level 15. Below we will give recommendations on choosing talents in each tier so that you can level up your character as quickly and easily as possible.
Level 15 Talents
This case contains talents for fast movement.
- Cat speed gives a direct increase in movement speed (+15%), works great when leveling up.
- Astral Leap teleports the character forward 20m, similar to Leap, automatically casts Cat Form and cools down for 30 seconds. For leveling up, talent is considered weak.
- Swift Charge grants the ability of the same name, used in Bear Form. Used to move quickly, also immobilizes the target for 4 seconds. The talent is not optimal for leveling up, since it requires a target to use. In addition, the druid spends most of his time running between locations, rather than from one goal to another. However, the talent can be used when leveling up in dungeons.
Level 30 Talents
This tier contains talents for self-healing and counteracting constant damage. All of them can be useful when leveling up.
- Ysera's Gift restores 5% of your maximum health every 5 seconds. If the druid is healthy, the effect triggers on the nearest wounded ally. This is a great passive talent that works in the vast majority of situations.
- The update restores 30% of your maximum health and can be used once every 2 minutes. The recovery time does not correlate with the amount of health restored; the talent is not recommended for leveling up.
- Shield of Cenarius places a shield on an allied target that activates from a direct attack and restores a large amount of health over 6 seconds. Can be used once every 30 seconds. Shield of Cenarius is ahead of Ysera's Gift when leveling up in dungeons, as it allows you to collect large packs.
Level 45 Talents
This tier contains talents designed to control opponents. All of them are situational, but can slightly increase the speed of leveling up the Druid Tank.
- Magic Swarm, when using Magic Fire, slows down affected targets by 50%, the slow lasts 15 seconds. This talent can be useful when playing alone, but in such cases Infected Wounds are more suitable for slowing down.
- Mass entanglement chains enemies in place for 20 seconds, can be used once every 30 seconds. The druid's unique talent when leveling up is usually used for retreat.
Also increases Mishka Druid's damage from Maim by 15%. Mangle is often used in rotation due to the numerous effects that increase its availability, so Soul of the Forest restores a lot of Rage throughout the fight and is considered a strong defensive talent to level.
- Incarnation reduces the cooldowns of your Melee Damage and Roar abilities by 1.5 seconds, increasing your damage output and speeding up the Rage generation process. Lasts 30 seconds, cooldown 3 minutes, recommended only for leveling in dungeons.
The talent works well when leveling up alone, but is unprofitable in dungeons.
Symbols
In the Mists of Pandaria expansion, symbols do not play a significant role; they only slightly speed up leveling. Below we list some useful options.
Large characters:
Not all of the listed symbols affect damage, but we recommend using them for convenience.
- Glyph of Maul - Maul hits an additional target and deals 50% damage. An excellent symbol for leveling up, since the Guardian usually collects large packs and spends rage on damage-dealing abilities.
- Glyph of Arcane Silence - Arcane Fire silences targets for 3 sec, with a 15 sec cooldown. The symbol can be useful when leveling up to interrupt spells against several enemies at the same time.
- The symbol of the prowling beast removes the penalty to movement speed in the prowling beast and significantly speeds up movement in the open world.
- The Alarm Roar symbol triples the range of the Alarm Roar, makes it easier to use, and is recommended for use when leveling up in dungeons.
- Glyph of Gust reduces the cooldown of Gust by 60 sec, making the character more mobile outside of tank form (Gust automatically applies Cat Form).
- Glyph of Rebirth, when used by Rebirth, returns the target to life at full health, making it easier for them to continue surviving.
Small characters:
Small symbols for the Guardian make it easier to cast some spells. We recommend that you use the following options:
- The symbol of Aquatic Form increases movement speed in Aquatic Form by 50%, making it easier to master world content.
- Glyph of Grace reduces fall damage even when you are not in Cat Form. Reduces the likelihood of death when falling from a great height; it is considered a situational symbol.
- The Stag Glyph allows a Druid in Travel Form to carry allies. Can be useful for quickly moving the entire group.
Rotation for leveling
The Guardian rotation for leveling is very similar to the rotation for the maximum level, since all important skills are unlocked at low levels.
Always keep Mark of the Wild on yourself and Arcane Fire on enemies unless you have Glyph of Arcane Silence (in which case, only cast Arcane Fire on spellcasters to make them run up to you faster).
- Use Enrage when available to generate rage;
- Use Maim to generate even more rage;
