How to set up addons: first day on the server

Correctly setting up addons takes an hour and saves dozens of hours later.

How to put

Unpack the downloaded addon intoInterface/AddOns inside the game folder. There should be a file inside.toc, and not a folder inside a folder - this is the most common mistake.

What to set up right away

• DBM — turn on mechanic sounds and the “spell bar.”
• WeakAuras — start with a ready-made assembly for your class, you don’t need to write your own.
• Panels (Bartender4) - set binds to 1–5 and movement keys.
• Group Frames (Grid2) - raise the priority of debuffs and “control removal”.

What not to put

• Addons that automatically play for you (they are banned on most servers).
• Dozens of “interface assemblies” at once: start with the minimum, add one at a time.
• Outdated versions - check the patch; As of 3.3.5, half of the addons are not supported.

How to understand that an addon is interfering

If your FPS drops, turn off counters and “heavy” addons, not graphics. Start diagnostics with/fstack and shutdowns one at a time.
